About The Band

The Bleeding Hearts Band

Since 1989 BLEEDING HEARTS have been thrilling audiences around Western New York and the Pennsylvania area. The band plays a unique blend of Classic Rock from the ’60s & '70s, Retro Hits of The  '80s, Alternative Hits from the ’90s and Current Hits of Today - This has established BLEEDING HEARTS as one of the most versatile and popular bands around. Also, one of the most respected and well loved. They have one of the most diverse and loyal following in all of New York State.

BLEEDING HEARTS concentrate mostly on dance/party songs, but are not afraid to play the occasional ballad for those who want to get close. The group is a highly polished and extremely professional trio. This band knows how to have fun and has what it takes to captivate a crowd - much to the pleasure of the audience who are usually yelling for more by night’s end. This is quite a talented charismatic bunch, all three members switch instruments through- out the night exploiting their versatility leaving a lasting impression. They play all the music live, no backing tracks, no sequencers, no harmonizers, no funny costumes or gimmicks just real music played with heart and soul by humans.

The band has been nominated for numerous BUFFALO MUSIC AWARDS. They won top Rock / Alternative group & top Group Vocals in 1996, top Group Vocals in 1997. As well as best Classic Rock Band in 1995. David Lloyd won for Pop Rock Drummer in 1991.

BLEEDING HEARTS have done many high profile gigs which include: 97 Rock Ball Drop 2001, First Night Buffalo, Taste of Buffalo, Gateway Park, Erie County Fair, Miss Buffalo Cruise, Dunn Tire Park, Holland Speedway, Buffalo Convention Center, Italian Festival, E.C.C., N.C.C.C., Darien Lake, Statler Hilton ( Bills Superbowl Party ), Buffalo Music Awards Show, Seneca Niagara Casino, Holiday Valley Resort, Holimont Country Club, just to name a few.

The group plays numerous bars/ nightclubs, corporate functions, private parties, country clubs, weddings, colleges, picnics, camp sites, ski resorts, reunions, graduations, fund raisers, etc… you name it, they do it. The have has also opened up for various national acts including The Guess Who, Rick Derringer, Steppenwolf and The Outlaws.

In 1991 the group released a self-titled EP. It was recorded at Buffalo legend Tommy Calandra's BCMK Studios with E.M. Brydalski engineering. The songs were mixed by Ed Stone at Metal Works Studios in Missiscauga, Ont. Ed Stone has worked with Triumph, Concrete Blonde, and a host of other Canadian acts. The EP sold out both pressings, developed some record company interests, but lost steam after the departure of original member  bassists & vocalist Bryan Berhalter.

1995 saw the release of the single " Be With Me" penned by Drummer & Lead singer David Lloyd.  The song was a crowd favorite and again, sold out both pressings locally. This single has just had a second coming so to speak, it was chosen to be on a compilation CD " No Hit Wonders" Vol. #1. It was just released in November 2003 by Nocturnal Productions on 80 A.D. Records. The collection features some of the greatests bands of the 80's from Buffalo and Western New York.

In its 35 years of existence founder/leader David Lloyd has had to re-invent the group at various times - case in point, after 20 years bringing back  former member ( from 1990 -1998 ) Bob Kupczyk in January 2018 (an 8 year veteran of the group) his pulsating bass and spot on harmonies hold the fort down. In September 2019 Tim Unger was added to the fold after guitarist  Mark Rosenhahn had to bow out suddenly due to nerve damage to his hand. Tim was a former 12 year veteran of the band EXIT.His positive attitude ,strong work ethic and stellar playing has been a welcome addition to the group. Both moves have been a breath of fresh air and solidified the band as one of the top acts in town. Don't be left out come experience Bleeding Hearts live and you be the judge.
